For women who have no cash to start a business there are money-making opportunities that can at least provide supplemental income. As with any business, the more time and effort you put into it, the more income you can earn. You do not need to have a business license to take advantage of any of the ideas listed below, but you do need a social security or employer identification number (EIN). Some of these businesses offer payments via PayPal; others require a bank account where payments can be deposited. You can also opt to have a checked mailed to an address. The number of websites dedicated to helping entrepreneurs is incredible: there are always new sites, to the point that it can be hard to keep track of them. However, I have a few favorites. There are some tools I absolutely rely on for everything from marketing to billing, some blogs I read constantly and a few resource sites that I consult for all sorts of small business issues. Then how is it, you might ask, that some entrepreneurs are able to start one successful business after another and rarely -- if ever -- fail? By successful, I mean a business that lives off its own cash flow, provides a good living for its owners and employees, and generates the profit it needs to keep growing. You have no doubt run into people with the ability to create such businesses almost at will. In the media, they are often referred to as serial entrepreneurs. I suppose I'm one of them, although I have certainly had my share of failures. So what do serial entrepreneurs know that allows us to have a relatively high batting average when it comes to starting businesses? Or is it just a matter of luck? Startups can be the most conservative organizations in the world. We spend so much energy nurturing our delicate egos against naysayers and self-doubt that we can hardly admit mistakes. This is especially true of first-time CEOs. Thousands of new web companies were born in the last few years, and many of us just got the job. Saved By: David Recordon | View Details | Give Thanks

Online communities have become become a crucial ingredient of e-business. Supporting open social networks builds strong brands and provides lasting value to the consumer. One function of the community is to recommend new products and services. Open social networks tend to be resilient, adaptive, and broad, but simplistic recommender systems can be 'gamed' by members seeking to promote certain products or services. We argue that the gaming is not the failure of the open social network, but rather of the function used by the recommender. To increase the quality and resilience of recommender systems, and provide the user with genuine and novel discoveries, we have to foster diversity, instead of closing down the social networks. Fortunately, software increases the broadcast capacity of each individual, making dense open social networks possible. Numerically, we show that dense social networks encourage diversity. In business terms, dense social networks support a long tail. Saved By: tsuomela | View Details | Give Thanks
